Since 1985, Connections, a nonprofit located in Delaware, has been providing community based housing, healthcare and employment to Delaware’s poor and homeless, including those with mental health, substance use conditions and cognitive disabilities. In 2011, Connections provided around 180,000 safe nights of affordable housing through 55 grassroots locations throughout Delaware. In addition to housing, Connections provides outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment. Further Connections provides homeless outreach, DUI services, primary medical care, home based health care and employment assistance to those in need. Nearly 10,000 unduplicated individuals were served by Connections in 2011.
Connections is a provider for many Delaware health care programs including Medicaid and provides services to Delawareans without insurance.
Outpatient Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment by Connections – On a walk-in bases without an appointment, people can obtain (a) assessments for substance use, gambling and mental health problems; (b) individual and group counseling; (c) psychiatric and other mental health treatment, including medication services; (d) family therapy; (e) case management, including help to get social services, financial assistance, transportation, childcare, housing and employment; (f) primary medical care and education; and (g) HIV counseling and testing.
